The scanner runs 86 detectors over the raw HTML of a page. Each one has a weight, a reason, and a fix. Most push the score up; the craft detectors pull it back down, and also damp how much the aesthetic ones are allowed to claim. Nothing here is a language model — it is a pattern matcher, and every rule is written down.
